US 8, FOR SALE
This is a rare chance to buy a competitive big boat in the USA.
This boat is race ready, former Class 2 and current America's Cup Class 3 champion. The boat has reached a top speed 87.6 mph., but is really designed as a good all around boat that is easily sailed on the dirt, beach or ice. With its extensive sail inventory you have the right amount of sail to go in anything from 3 to 35+ knots of wind. You couple that with 2 axle choices and 2 wheel tire combos and you are ready to go anywhere from the Alvord to France to New Zealand and even Montana. All the blocks are Harken air blocks and the winch is a hard to find Barient 10h with custom handle. US 8 has been tested at some of the most challenging places to sail and has proved that is strong and reliable, it has only failed to finish one race in its 8 year history due to breakage (rear spindle AC 2010, used the second axle and made the next race). With the heaviest of the 3 big pieces (mast, axle, body) being the body at 110 Lbs. it is easily put up on the racks of a truck or car for transport. The all up racing weight (less pilot) is around 265 Lbs. All the sails are in great shape and have many more hours in them. The sails, booms and mast have custom bags or covers. All hardware is either aluminum or stainless steel.
